Senses Fail albums, labels, credits, and selected pressings

The 2002, 2003, and 2019 versions of From The Depths Of Dreams are different releases. That distinction matters when tracing Senses Fail’s catalog, where the same title can carry different recordings, credits, and catalog numbers.

This guide collects what the paperwork shows. Dates, catalog numbers, and credits come from Discogs entries, which are community maintained transcriptions of what a release prints rather than label pages, and from the label’s own archived posts. Each source is linked at first use. Staple News is independent, with no connection to the Staple Records label that used this domain, and none to Senses Fail.

Senses Fail releases in order

Twelve entries: the studio albums, the debut EP in each of its three issues, and a 2025 live album. Dates are the ones the entries carry.

The 300 copy EP and the song Drive-Thru cut

Senses Fail put out From The Depths Of Dreams on ECA Records on 16 August 2002, catalog ECA002, in a run of 300. The entry splits the run: 100 by the band, 200 through the label. Three of the six songs were tracked at Nada Studios on 22 and 23 March 2002, the other three on 8 and 9 June, with John Naclerio engineering and mixing. Buddy Nielsen sang, Garrett Zablocki and Dave Miller played guitars, James Gill bass, Dan Trapp drums.

Drive-Thru Records signed the band and reissued the EP on 29 April 2003 as DTR #38, eight tracks now, with two bonus songs cut by a different lineup. One song did not survive the move: the entry for that pressing records “Bastard Son” as left off “at Drive-Thru’s insistence”. The opening track changed spelling between the entries, given as Stephen for the ECA pressing and Steven for the Drive-Thru one.

“Bastard Son” came back sixteen years later, at track seven on the EP the band re-recorded for Pure Noise Records on 6 September 2019.

Vagrant years and a guitar seat that kept changing

Let It Enfold You landed on Vagrant Records on 7 September 2004, produced, recorded, and mixed by Steve Evetts. Michael Glita is credited on bass in place of James Gill.

By Still Searching, out 10 October 2006, the second guitar had changed hands again and Heath Saraceno appears in the credits for the first time. Brian McTernan produced, Chris Lord-Alge mixed, Ted Jensen mastered at Sterling Sound, and the band tracked at Bearsville Studios. That package carries two catalog numbers at once, and the entry records where each sits.

Life Is Not A Waiting Room followed on 7 October 2008, recorded and mixed at Salad Days in Fells Point, Maryland, which the label called McTernan’s own studio. Jason Black is credited on bass. The Fire arrived 25 October 2010 listing four players, and no producer appears on that entry.

The entries for the 2013, 2015, and 2018 records list writing credits and no instrument assignments. That is what those entries transcribe; the printed sleeves, which we have not inspected, may differ.

When Staple Records pressed the back catalog

Staple Records is the label this domain belonged to. Its own artists page described the roster in one line: “focused on bands with roots in the punk, pop, post-hardcore music scene”. Working with Workhorse Music Group, it put the older Vagrant catalog onto vinyl.

The 2012 news posts are dated and specific. On 29 March the label opened pre-orders for “the first ever vinyl pressing” of Let It Enfold You. By 16 April the white pressing had sold out and 500 more copies on red vinyl were announced for Hot Topic stores on 15 May. On 4 April it announced Follow Your Bliss: The Best Of Senses Fail for 19 June, a double CD with four new songs cut that March with McTernan at Salad Days.

The same homepage got its own artist’s history wrong. That 29 March post calls Let It Enfold You a “2005 debut release”. The label’s artist biography on the same site says 2004, and the Discogs entry dates it 7 September 2004.

Renacer and the Shaun Lopez turn

Renacer came out 26 March 2013 with its copyright split between Staple Records and Workhorse Music Group, catalog WH17 on CD and WH18 on the LP.

The label wrote up the changes itself. Its biography says Garrett Zablocki, an original member and a main songwriter, left after The Fire and was replaced by Matt Smith of Strike Anywhere, working alongside Zack Roach, and that the band recorded with Shaun Lopez rather than with Brian McTernan, whom the same page credits with the previous three albums. McTernan did not disappear. The Renacer entry credits him with additional editing, and Eric Stenman with the mix.

The purple LP entry describes 500 numbered copies, with a gold foil stamp on the jacket reverse. Its notes also list announced orange variants. Those color names do not establish how many distinct runs were actually manufactured, so this guide does not add them into a total.

On 29 March 2013 the label announced a free show at The Meatlocker in Montclair, New Jersey, capped at the first 60 in line. It cancelled the show the next day. Our page on the Meatlocker in Montclair collects what is documented about the venue.

Pure Noise albums from 2015 to 2022

Pull The Thorns From Your Heart, 30 June 2015, is the most formally organized record in the catalog. Lopez produced again, and the tracklist splits into four titled movements named from Buddhist practice.

If There Is Light, It Will Find You followed on 16 February 2018, produced, engineered, and mixed by Beau Burchell, with a gatefold LP variant limited to 1,250 copies. The entry also credits Wes Eisold with a line of lyrics on “Elevator To The Gallows”.

Hell Is In Your Head, 15 July 2022, borrows its spine from a poem. Five of its eleven tracks use the section headings of T. S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. Burchell produced and engineered, and Ken Andrews is also credited on the mix.

A live album followed in December 2025 with no label credited, running the 2008 record front to back across twelve tracks, recorded in Anaheim, California, with Burchell engineering, editing, mixing, and mastering. The entry lists four vinyl variants and a sleeve misprint, “All For Cody” for “Ali For Cody”.
